Overview

Soundsuit is legally required to report music usage to major record labels (Warner, Sony, Universal, etc.).
This includes which songs were played, where they were played, and by which account.
This process ensures that artists are paid fairly, based on how often their music is used in businesses.

To provide accurate reporting, Soundsuit uses a structure called Zones (or Users, depending on your preferred interface terminology).

 

What Are Zones / Users?

A Zone (or User) represents one independent audio stream in your business setup.

• One room playing music = one zone

• Several rooms playing music at the same time = multiple zones

• Several staff members playing music independently = multiple users

Note: “Zones” and “Users” function the same way. You can choose the display you prefer.

 

Why Zones Are Mandatory

This structure allows Soundsuit to report the following correctly:

✔ Number of active streams

Record labels must know exactly how many audio streams are active simultaneously.

✔ Which songs are played in each stream

Each zone/user can play different music.
For correct royalty attribution, every played song must be linked to the specific stream where it occurred.

This detailed reporting is a legal requirement for all licensed music services.

 

What Your Business Needs to Do

To stay compliant and run Soundsuit smoothly:

1. Define how many zones/users you need
   (i.e., how many parallel streams you actually use)

2. Assign one zone/user per physical area or per independent staff member

3. Name your zones/users clearly
   e.g., “Restaurant,” “Lobby,” “Gym,” “Office 1,” “Event Staff – Anna”

• Single café with one room → 1 zone

• Hotel with lobby + spa + restaurant → 3 zones

• Store with two floors playing different music → 2 zones

• Retail chain with 5 separate shops → 5 zones (one per shop)

• Company event team with 10 staff members travelling and playing music independently at seminars, conferences, or trade fairs → 10 users

Overview

Every Soundsuit subscription automatically includes Admin access.
The Admin account is used to configure your organisation’s setup — such as locations, zones, and users — and to monitor or adjust the service when needed.

To keep things simple and secure, we recommend creating one shared, generic admin login, for example:

Using a dedicated shared admin email provides several benefits:

• Easy access for multiple team members
  Management, marketing, IT, or the CEO can all log in when needed — without depending on one person’s personal account.

• Continuity over time
  If someone leaves the company, your admin access remains intact and unaffected.

• create new music content (playlists, stations, schedules) shared between all locations / users

As an Admin, you can group multiple stores, sites, showrooms or users under your supervision and manage all their music settings centrally from the Soundsuit Dashboard.

This guide explains how to invite existing locations/users so they become part of your Admin group.
 

🧭 Step 1 — Open the Locations Dashboard

1. Log in to your account.

2. Go to app.soundsuit.fm/locations.

You will see the list of locations currently associated with your Admin account.

Remark: if you are not yet an "Admin", simply follow the step 2 and click on "add a location", the user interface will guide you through to upgrade to the role of "multi-site administrator".

1. Choose Invite a new location.

2. Enter the email address of the location you want to add.

   • Use the email that this location already uses to log into Soundsuit.

The location will receive an invitation email prompting them to join your Admin group.

As soon as the location accepts the invite:

• it appears under your Admin supervision,

• you gain full control over its music content and settings.

Repeat the steps above for each additional location you want to add.

Once supervised, a location can see and play only the playlists, stations, and schedules that you authorise from your Admin Dashboard.

Any new playlists, stations, or schedules you create become immediately available to all supervised (“child”) locations—unless you intentionally remove their access.

💡 Tip

If a location created a Soundsuit account on its own earlier, that’s not a problem—just invite it as described above. Once it accepts, it automatically becomes a child location under your admin control.

To schedule Soundsuit music on Loxone, there's one simple thing to know:

You set in your Loxone system when and what to play, as well as when to stop to play. The Soundsuit "Schedule" (as defined in your Soundsuit App) will then automatically alternate the Soundsuit Stations according to your setup.

Step-by-Step Setup in Loxone Config

here’s how you can set up a start/stop schedule for music playback in Loxone Config, using its Audio Server and Scheduler blocks.
 

This works for playing Soundsuit as a source automatically at set times.

1️⃣ Add the Audio Player block

1. Open your Loxone Config project.

2. Drag in an Audio Player block for the desired zone (e.g. “Restaurant”, “Lobby”).

3. Assign it to the right Audio Server output or Miniserver zone.

    

2️⃣ Add a “Schedule” (Timer / Week Timer) block
 

1. From the function blocks panel, add a “Schedule” block (official name: Week Timer / “Wochentimer”).

2. You’ll find it under:

   Function Blocks → Time → Week Timer (Wochentimer)

3. Set your desired on/off times in the schedule — e.g.

   • 08:00 → ON

   • 22:00 → OFF
     You can configure different times for each day.
      

3️⃣ Link the Soundsuit Schedule to the Audio Player

Connect the output (Q) of the Week Timer block to the “On/Off” input (Tr) of the Audio Player block.

• When Q = 1 → playback starts

• When Q = 0 → playback stops

👉 If you want the Audio Player to automatically play a specific source (like Soundsuit) each morning:

• Use the “Play Source” input (PS) on the Audio Player block.

• In the properties of that input, select the source (e.g. Web Stream 1 – Soundsuit Schedule).
   

4️⃣ Optional: Define volume or fade-in

You can also:

• Connect a Memory or Analog Value block to set volume (e.g. 35 %).

• Add a Ramp block if you want a smooth fade-in/out when the schedule triggers.
   

5️⃣ Test and Save

Click the green “Play” icon (simulation mode) to test if the schedule triggers the Audio Player as expected.
Then upload the config to your Miniserver.
 

Example Wiring Summary

Soundsuit offers two types of user accounts:

1. Location accounts – used for daily playback in each store, office, gym, café, or other location.

2. Administrator accounts – used for managing multiple locations, central music settings, billing, and advanced features.

• To play music in a location, please log in with your location account credentials.

• Location accounts work seamlessly on the Soundsuit tablet app (iOS and Android).

Using your Administrator account

• Administrator accounts are designed for management and configuration, not daily playback.

• To ensure a smooth user experience, Administrator accounts cannot log in on the tablet app.

• Please use your laptop or desktop computer to access the Soundsuit platform (web, desktop) with your Administrator account.

• This allows you to manage playlists, schedules, and account settings more easily on a larger screen.

Summary

• Tablet app = location accounts only (for music playback at each site).

• Computer = administrator accounts (for management and configuration).

👉 If you try to log in with an Administrator account on the tablet app, it will not work by design.

As a brand-administrator (multi-site), or as a single user (one location), every Soundsuit user can create his own playlist in the Soundsuit app.

5. In the "Subscription" tab, simply increase your needed number of zones from X to X+1=7. In the example below, because you already have 6 zones, you now set it to 7
   
   

You're done!

Repeat these same steps for every new location you wish to create.

In this article we will talk about how you can use Soundsuit to start and stop your music stream automatically.

If you are streaming Soundsuit with any sound system, programming the automated start and stop of the music is not possible. The app cannot start music playback by itself, as this is not technically possible with a personal device like a smartphone or a tablet.

In this way, it is only possible to set up an automatic start/stop for the mood (genre, speed, etc.) of the music via the schedule.

The music as such, however, must be started and stopped manually by you via your smartphone / tablet / laptop. An exception to this is if you stream Soundsuit with Sonos. In this article you will find more information about installing a start / stop - automatic of Soundsuit music on Sonos.

Soundsuit's Hardware-Player can be easily managed via the Soundsuit Dashboard. Here you can find out how:

1. Make sure to have a clear hierarchy of locations and zones

• One “Location” represents for instance one store, one hotel, one gym, one office building.
• Within each location, you have one or multiple Music Zones.
  
  

2. Create the music object you want to play using the Hardware-Player

• Create a station that is an AI-generated stream, customizable with tags such as energy level, genres and target audience.
• Create a playlist consisting of individual songs that should be updated regularly.
• Crete a music schedule, which is a weekly plan of the stations or playlist you want to play at a certain day and time.
  
  

3. Attach the music object of your choice to the Zone where the Hardware-Player is placed.

Important reminder:

- Each hardware-player, upon delivery, was clearly identified by a 5 digit serial number. This serial number can be found on the bottom of hte Hardware-player on a white sticker.

- Each hardware-player was delivered to your location already paired with a defined zone. Example: the device 97BD8 is paired with the Zone "Hotel Lobby".

Now if you assign the music object (i.e. one playlist, one station or one schedule) of your choice to the zone where the hardware-player is placed, then this music object will play on this hardware-player.

Example:

 In the Zone "Hotel Lobby",



Where the Hardware-Player 97BD8 is placed, i allocate the music Station "Dîner chic".

(Important: please remember to give the permission on this zone to the station "Diner chic" be to played)

And the music station "Dîner chic" will be streamed on the hardware-player 97BD8.

4. All done.

You are ready. The music object of your choice is now streaming on the Hardware-Player you wanted.

You can repeat the process and assign different playlist/station/schedule to the different hardware-players you own and have placed in other zones.

Witht the Soundsuit Dashboard, you can also of course easily scale this exact setup to manage multiple locations, with multiple zones (and Hardware-Players) in each location.

Using the Sonos "Alarm" function together with Soundsuit will help you realize the exact setup you want. In Soundsuit, you can design a weekly schedule, and the Sonos app will simply call this schedule and change the volume accordingly. The music changes (mood, genres, etc.) will be orchestrated by the Soundsuit schedule, saving you tons of time.

Steps to Set Up Sonos Alarms with Different Volume Levels

1. Open the Sonos App:
   • Navigate to the Sonos app on your device and open it.
      
2. Access the Alarm Settings:
   • Go to the "Settings" menu.
   • Select "Alarms" from the list.
      
3. Add a New Alarm:
   • Click on "Add Alarm" to create a new alarm.
      
4. Configure Alarm Details:
   • Alarm: Turn the alarm "On".
   • Time: Set the desired time for the alarm. For example, 07:00.
   • Room: Select the room where you want the alarm to play.
   • Music: Choose the Soundsuit schedule you want to play. You may have a specific schedule set up in Soundsuit, such as "Relaxed Beats".
   • Schedule: Select the days you want the alarm to be active. For instance, Monday to Sunday.
   • Volume: Set the volume level. Adjust the slider to your preferred volume percentage.
      
5. Repeat for Each Time Slot:
   • Create multiple alarms for different times of the day, adjusting the volume accordingly. For example:
     • 07:00 - Volume 20% - Play Soundsuit Schedule XX
     • 09:00 - Volume 40% - Play Soundsuit Schedule XX
     • 12:00 - Volume 50% - Play Soundsuit Schedule XX
     • 15:00 - Volume 40% - Play Soundsuit Schedule XX
     • 18:00 - Volume 70% - Play Soundsuit Schedule XX
        
6. Save Your Alarms:
   • After setting up each alarm, click "OK" to save.

By following these steps, you can have your Sonos system play music at different volume levels throughout the day according to your Soundsuit schedule. This setup ensures that the ambiance in your space changes seamlessly, enhancing the overall experience.

This method of connection is where you hardwire a Sonos smart speaker (or a Sonos Boost repeater) to your business Internet network. Only one device needs to be wired into your router or network point to launch a reliable mesh network on a separate wireless channel.

This means that your speakers don’t have to talk to the WiFi router directly, but rather can connect reliably through any nearby Sonos smart speaker. This increases the range of your Sonos system, and frees up the standard WiFi for your guests, customers or colleagues and ensures that you’ve got great connectivity no matter how large your business or how many WiFi devices you use.

1. Wired setup (also known as mesh network setup)

In a wired setup, at least one of your Sonos products will stay wired to the router with an Ethernet cable to create a dedicated wireless network specifically for your Sonos system. Additionally, your Sonos products will be able to pass the wireless signal to other Sonos products, which means it’s possible for Sonos to operate in a room/space that is beyond the reach of your WiFi.

When to use a wired setup

Use a wired setup if your business WiFi network is slow, unreliable, does not meet the Sonos system requirements, or does not reach all the rooms/spaces where you want Sonos.

2. Wireless setup

In a wireless setup, your Sonos products connect to your business’s WiFi network, just like other wireless devices in your venue (smartphones, tablets, computers, cash registers, security cameras, etc.).

When to use a wireless setup

Use a wireless setup if you have a strong WiFi connection that reaches all the rooms/spaces where you want Sonos.

3. Switching from a wireless to a wired setup

Connecting one of your Sonos products to your router with an Ethernet cable will put your system into a wired setup. In a wired setup, the wired product will broadcast a dedicated wireless network that your Sonos products will use. Surround speakers or Sub cannot be used as the single wired product.

1. Make sure that the product you plan to wire to the router has already been added to your Sonos system. If the product is brand new, add it to your system first using the steps in our article on adding new products to existing systems.
2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to your Sonos product, then connect the other end to your router. You should hear a “click” when it is fully connected to the Ethernet port.
   
   
3. Some of your products may disappear from the Sonos app as they connect to the newly created Sonos network. Wait about one minute for all your products to appear in the Rooms tab. If any of your products do not reappear in the Sonos app, reboot each missing product, and wait an additional minute for them to power on and connect to the Sonos wireless network.

Soundsuit accounts only allow one stream to play at a time. Check that your Soundsuit account is not being used on another device, like a tablet or computer.

2. Check internet speed

Streaming from music services utilizes your internet connection to download the music. We recommend download speeds of at least 50 Mbps for streaming music to Sonos. Run a speed test from a device connected to your WiFi to check your internet speed. If your internet speed does not meet these requirements, contact your Internet Service Provider for more assistance.

3. Restart the router

Remove the power cable from your router for 30 seconds before reinserting the cable to power it back on.

4. Remove your Bridge

If you have a Sonos Bridge, removing it from your system can improve overall performance. Follow the steps in our article on removing a Sonos Bridge.

Try loading webpages and videos, preferably from a wired computer or laptop that is connected to the same network as Sonos, to make sure your Internet connection is working properly. If you notice unusually slow Internet speeds, please contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance.

Restart your router and Sonos speakers to refresh the connection.

If possible, connect your Sonos device to your router using an Ethernet cable to rule out Wi-Fi issues.

4. Take steps to reduce wireless interference

Your Sonos products may be having difficulty communicating wirelessly with one another or your router, which can oftentimes be alleviated by changing the wireless channel your Sonos system is operating on. Wireless environments have the potential to become congested with many devices using the same air space, and changing the wireless channel can clear up these issues. 5. Relocate your Sonos products

Audio stops or skips can occur if a Sonos product has a weak wireless connection to your router or the nearest wired Sonos product. If you are in a wireless setup, move any affected Sonos products closer to the router. If you are in a wired (MESH) setup, move them closer to the nearest Sonos product that is wired to your router.

6. Power Management or Energy-Saving Settings

Some Sonos speakers might stop streaming due to power-saving settings in your router. Check your router's admin panel for settings like "sleep mode" or "inactive device timeout."

7. Remove Soundsuit from the list of installed services

iOS or Android

1. From the Settings tab, tap Services & Voice.
2. Tap the service you wish to remove from Sonos and tap Remove Account. If you’ve added multiple accounts, make sure the correct one is selected before removing.
3. Tap Remove.
4. Add Soundsuit again --> Open the Sonos app.
5. From the Settings tab, tap Services & Voice.
6. Under Music & Content, tap Add a Service.
7. Tap the service you would like to add.
8. Tap Add to Sonos.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the music service account.

macOS or Windows

1. From the toolbar in the top left corner, click Manage > Service Settings.
2. Click the service you wish to remove and click the-(minus) button if you are using macOS or Remove if you are using Windows. If you’ve added multiple accounts, make sure the correct one is selected before removing.
3. Click Remove.
4. Add Soundsuit again --> Open the Sonos app
5. Under the Select a Music Source section, click on Add Music Services.
6. Click on the service you would like to add.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the music service account.
   
   
   

8. Advanced Troubleshooting

Reboot your Sonos system
Turn off all Sonos devices, unplug them for a minute, and then turn them back on.

Factory reset your speaker
If nothing else works, perform a factory reset on the problematic speaker and reconfigure it using the Sonos app.

If you continue to experience issues after following the above steps, refer to the Contact Customer Care section of Sonos website.

To quickly solve the issue, please follow the steps we describe here:

1. Compatibility Mode

Change the Compatibility Mode Settings for the Soundsuit App in Windows. Uncheck the option in the executable's Properties. Also, make sure you check this option if it's unchecked as the problem can be resolved both ways.

2. Check Network and Restart Your Router

The “Soundsuit keeps pausing” error could also be related to your network, you should check the network cables and routers at first. You need to make sure that the cables are in the right place. If you are using Wi-Fi, you can restart your router. If this doesn’t work, move to the next solutions.

3.Sign out the Account

Then, you can try to sign out the account from all the devices. And log in again, but only on your laptop or PC having issues with the streaming.

4. Disable Battery and Power Saving Mode

The last method for you is to disable battery and power saving mode.

Step 1: Go to Settings > Battery.

Step 2: Tap the menu button and select Battery optimization.

Step 3: Open the dropdown menu at the top and select All apps.

Step 4: Select the Soundsuit app and choose Don’t Optimize.

5. Screen off mode

Please try to set the screen off mode to never. This new setting may result in a much higher degree of battery use—something that we don't wish for of course. But it could help solve the issue.

The good news is that a fix for this is in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

With this update playback on Soundsuit can continue while the screen is off to conserve your battery power. While you might not have this update yet, you can update Windows manually by going here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028685/windows-10-get-the-fall-creators-update.

The music will, however, stop when your computer goes to sleep.
You can control the sleep settings in the Power & sleep settings.

Make sure that your Power & Sleep settings are defined in a way that your computer or laptop will not go to sleep when you want it to keep your Chrome or Edge or Firefox or Opera browser running to stream Soundsuit music.
